Areas of Preeminence
From the March, 2007 draft of the Strategic Plan: “The university has identified six areas of preeminence in research and scholarship which build upon a strong foundation of excellence and have extraordinary potential to raise the university’s reputation. Criteria used in identifying these themes included prestige with funding agencies, industry, and peers; scholarly impact (e.g., publications, citations, and creative works), societal impact, and educational impact (doctoral and post-doctoral researchers education in the area). Employing similar criteria, and attempting to coordinate with university areas of preeminence, yielded” the four areas of preeminence discussed in the college’s Strategic Plan.
Do the plan’s areas of preeminence accurately convey the college’s “foundations of excellence” and “potential to raise the university’s reputation”?
