Tracy Vincent-Sharp came to Washington State University in mid-life to complete a degree in Crops and Soil Science as a prerequisite to entering the Peace Corps. She said she wanted to help “feed the world” and planned to do it by helping the inhabitants of third world countries improve their crop production. Tracy was a bright, committed student who was always ready to discuss and question the material her instructors presented in class. She had been awarded a fellowship by The Land Institute and was expecting to enter the WSU graduate program when her untimely death in 2003 prevented the completion of her studies. This scholarship is established in her memory to assist primarily non-traditional female students, like Tracy, who are studying food crop production in the Crops and Soil Science program.
Award Requirements
First preference will be given to a non-traditional undergraduate female student who is entering or is in her third or fourth year working toward a degree in food crop production in the Crop and Soil Science program and has a 3.0 or better gpa. Second preference will be given to a non-traditional graduate female student who is working on an advanced degree related to food crop production in the Crops and Soils Science program and is either entering the advanced degree program or is making timely progress toward completion of the advanced degree.
