Sundquist, Ralph Scholarship in Horticulture

Ralph Sundquist received his BA from WSC in 1916 and then him MS in 1917. He purchased his first orchard property in 1919 and in 1932 he began a packing and shipping operation. Ralph continued to serve the fruit industry through many leadership roles, one of which was president of Washington State Horticultural Association in 1940.  Interested in education, Sundquist served on the Yakima School Board for 20 years. As Chairman of Yakima Valley College Corporation, which he was for eight years, he was involved in financing many buildings on campus. As a leader in the community, Ralph chaired a committee which brought educational television to Yakima Valley. In 1951 he received the WSU Regents’ Award of Merit.
