Jean C. (Clark) Rogers was born May 1934, in Garabaldi, Oregon, and spent her youth within the State of Oregon. She received a BA degree from Oregon State University in Home Economics Education, an MA degree from the University of Nevada-Reno in Clothing & Textiles, and her Ph.D. from WSU in Education & Curriculum. Jean served on the faculty at WSU teaching in the area of apparel merchandising, clothing & textiles, from 1969-1992, and as Interim Chair of the Department of Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design from 1991-1992. She met LeRoy Rogers while attending summer school at Oregon State University.
LeRoy F. Rogers was born April 1933, in Bakersfield, California. He grew up on a small farm near Delano, California. Roy received his BS degree from Cal Poly in Animal Husbandry, an MA degree from Oregon State University in Agricultural Economics, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Illinois in Agricultural Economics. Roy served on the faculty at WSU, teaching and conducting research in the areas of farm management and finance in the Department of Agricultural Economics from 1967-1986. He served as Chair of the Department from 1975-1986. He was the Director of Resident Instruction of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics from 1986-1988, and served as Interim Dean of the college from 1988-1989. Since 1990 he has been primarily involved with international agricultural development projects. LeRoy and Jean Rogers moved to a small farm in the Willamette Valley, near Dallas, Oregon, in April of 1995.
Award Requirements
The LeRoy and Jean Rogers Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students in the College of Agriculture and Home Economics. The awards will go to students within the Department of Agricultural Economics and the Department of Apparel, Merchandising, Design and Textiles.
