Neil was born in Nebraska in 1901; spent his early years near Kennewick, Washington; and he died December 26, 1983, in California. Eunice was born in South Dakota in 1900; spent her early years in Washington and her later years in Washington D.C.; and she died in California in 1997. The Johnson’s were both graduates of Washington State College. Neil received a B.S. in Horticulture in 1924 and an M.S. in Horticulture in 1925, and Eunice received her B.S. in Education in 1926 and later her M.S. in Education from WSU. While at WSU, Neil was a member of the fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi, and the agricultural honorary society, Alpha Zeta. Mr. Johnson worked as a resident consultant at the Lattaeur School of Public Administration at Harvard University and as an assistant professor in agricultural economics at Washington State University. He was principal agricultural economist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. From 1949-1959, he was head of the central project in the agricultural research administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, in Washington. While living in Washington D.C., Eunice held the offices of deacon and elder at the Clarendon Presbyterian Church. She taught junior high classes and was active in the Women’s Association of the church. During WWII, she was also active in work with the American Red Cross.
