Harwood, Robert F. and Mary Lou Graduate Fellowship

Robert F. Harwood was a member of the Washington State University Entomology Department for 38 years, starting in 1954. He served as chair for eleven years, starting in 1968. His wife Mary Lou earned an MA in English from Washington State University in 1958 and greatly assisted her husband’s career through enthusiastic personal support and social matters. Robert’s strengths were in medical/veterinary entomology and insect physiology. For eight years he worked in Sudan, Jordan, and Egypt within Washington State University’s international program. Dr. Harwood was quite active in aspects of agricultural production. For three years he served as Assistant Director of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics Agricultural Research Center.

Award Requirements

The proceeds from the endowment fund may be used to provide fellowship stipends to be used by the recipient for such things as tuition and fees, subsistence, research expenses, and other educationally related costs. These funds will be awarded to the graduate student selected by the Department of Entomology.
