Clark, Asa V. Memorial Scholarship

Asa V. Clark was captain of the 1915 Rose Bowl Team; named to a tackle spot on the All-Time Pacific Coast Football Team for the first 50 years of collegiate football. A prominent Whitman County farmer for many years, Clark also served in the State House of Representatives from 1941 to 1949 and as a State Senator from Whitman County from 1949 to 1956. Clark also received the Alumni Achievement Award which read: “For providing inspirational leadership in the advancement of intercollegiate football, 15 years of service to the State of Washington in the House of Representatives and Senate, and a lifetime of service to Washington State University.”

Award Requirements

Those considered eligible for scholarships hereunder shall be full time, regularly enrolled undergraduate students majoring in the field of agriculture. Within the preceding criteria scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of: 1.) good citizenship and moral character; 2.) be a good student showing interest in the field of agriculture – recipient’s grade point average shall be 2.5 or better; 3.) financial need.
