Collaboration between Undergraduate and Graduate Researchers

In my Ignite research, I worked with Pete Jacoby and his other graduate and undergraduate students Alexis and Max.  For my research this semester, I helped build a website for Dr. Jacoby’s lab and Max’s PhD by adding background information, project photos, and doing my own investigation of water crisis in Washington and the advantages and disadvantages of different irrigation techniques. In addition to building the website, Alexis and I worked with grape vine cuttings and taking measurements such as dry weight, fresh weight, and length to assist Max in his project.

Impact of Ignite

Ignite helped me with my first year on campus because it allowed me to make connections with my professors, especially those in my field and to get to know other students studying a similar discipline as me. This experience was beneficial because of the research techniques I gained as well as getting to know my colleagues and I look forward to continuing work with them in the fall.

Practical Applications

We designed the website to serve as a resource to other researchers and grape growers in Washington and around the world so they can improve their own practices.
