CAHNRS faculty lead WSU in proposal submissions. In FY2014 over 1,200 grant proposals were submitted for $266M. This represented 45% of all proposals submitted and 31% of total dollars requested by WSU. There is a lot of support to help faculty be successful in submitting grant proposals.
Depending on your unit, your primary point of contact for submitting a grant may be a business center, R&E Center, Extension Grant Administrator, or Unit staff for those not served by a business center. In addition, for large grant proposals the Office of Major Grant Development is available for assistance.
If you need help identifying who your grant administrator is please contact the CAHNRS Grant Team Manager at 509-335-5047.
Once you decide to pursue a proposal submission, as the lead Principal Investigator (PI) or as a partner (other department, college, institution or entity) contact your grant administrator for assistance. When proposals are completed, they are submitted to the CAHNRS Grant Team with an eREX (WSU’s Request for Approval for Extramural Support). The CAHNRS Grant Team reviews the proposal and eREX and submits to the Office of Grant and Research Development (OGRD) for final institutional approval and submission. OGRD is the only entity authorized to submit proposals on behalf of WSU.
CAHNRS Business Centers
CAHNRS is served by two Business Centers. The Centers support grant management and processing, finance operations such as purchase and travel, and personnel functions such as hiring and payroll. Each center serves a particular group of units and departments.
Large Grant Development
The Office of Large Grant Development assists CAHNRS faculty members who are pursuing external funding, in particular, integrated, multi-investor grants. The objective of the Office is to provide clerical, organizational, and editorial support to individuals taking the lead in preparing complex proposals… more
CAHNRS Grant Team
The CAHNRS grant team reviews final proposals before submission to OGRD, and works with departments and Business Centers to correct and/or revise proposals to ensure error-free processing to the funding agency. The team also provides training, instruction and advice on proposal preparation and submission.
