Invention Disclosure

Before any invention or technology can be protected, it must first be disclosed through the WSU Office of Commercialization (OC).

An invention disclosure is a form used to create a record of the discovery of an invention (including new plant varieties) created by WSU faculty. It includes the inventors involved, any sponsorship that led to the invention, and lists any public disclosures and publications that occurred throughout the development/discovery process. An invention disclosure also serves as an initial assignment of ownership of the invention to WSU. All invention disclosures are independent of the subject matter and are submitted electronically.

The process of invention disclosure begins with a submission through Inventor Portal

Contact the Office of Commercialization if you have any questions about disclosing an invention. For more information about any intellectual property process, please contact Jeremy Tamsen.
