Washington Red Raspberry Commission and the Washington Blueberry Commission

On October 12 and 13th, the Washington Red Raspberry Commission and the Washington Blueberry Commission will be holding a joint research review session.  The Commissions are still working out the details, but we wanted to give you a head’s up with how this is proceeding.  You are receiving this email because you have expressed an interest in blueberry research in the past.  If there is anyone you believe should receive this information, feel free to forward this to them.

Raspberries will go first and will probably start around noonish on the 12th and continue until around 5 pm.  They will reconvene to finish up in the first part of the following morning.  Blueberries will start after raspberries finish and will continue until 3:00 pm.  There will be a social function following the conclusion of the raspberry session on the 12th at a location to be determined at a later date.  Lunches will be provided both days.

The format for raspberry and blueberry may not be the same.  The blueberry research format is expected to similar to that of last year.  Scientists with existing research projects will provide an update on their research.  If they plan to request funding to continue the project then they will be given additional time to discuss future research directions.  If a scientist requests funding for a new project then they will be allotted time for the new project.

We expect the WBC request for proposals to come out by the end of October.  If you have any questions, please let me know.
