Earth Science Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Earth Science baccalaureate program students will be able to:

  • Describe the fundamental concepts of geology, including the origin, composition, structure, and evolution of the Earth, and how the Earth system responds to internal and external forces.
  • Construct a proper geologic map and cross sections based on their field observations.
  • Identify and fully describe rocks, minerals, and fossils in the field, in hand sample, and under the microscope.
  • Understand and discuss geologic time, including the principles and methods of absolute and relative dating.
