Through immersive undergraduate research, you\u2019ll deepen your understanding of your academic interests and work directly with exceptional faculty\u2014many of whom are renowned researchers in their fields. Participants receive training in research methods, professional development, and access to enriching academic and community-building activities. There are a variety of majors in applied sciences offered within CAHNRS! Alongside your faculty mentor, you will gain hands-on experience, receive guidance and begin to develop a network of resources accessible to you to assist in navigating your college experience. The exciting part? You\u2019ll be engaging in research with a <strong>faculty mentor<\/strong> who understands your course load and academic goals\u2014and yes, <strong>you\u2019ll be paid<\/strong>! This will occur when you arrive on campus in the Fall and participate in the T<strong>op Scholars Orientation Dinner<\/strong> and the <strong>Science, Research, &amp; Volunteer Fair<\/strong>. Having a faculty mentor to guide you as you navigate the transition to WSU is a rewarding experience. Your faculty mentor is well aware of your academic workload and will guide your work. This mentor will introduce you to a variety of professional opportunities and offer another voice of reason, as you embark on this new undergraduate journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a large amount of flexibility in your workload, and you will work with your faculty mentor to find a schedule that works for you. You will connect with faculty mentors at the <strong>Top Scholars Orientation Dinner <\/strong>typically held during the first month of fall semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CAHNRS faculty and staff will assist you as you adjust to college life and will be with you every step of the way as you map out your Ignite journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will also be invited to a larger community of support consisting of other freshmen currently in the program alongside previous Top Scholars who will serve as peer mentors. <\/p>\n\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-accordion\">\r\n    <h3 id=\"unique-id-1__88594\" class=\"wsu-accordion__title\">\r\n        <button class=\"wsu-accordion__title-button wsu-accordion--toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"unique-id-1__content\">When is the deadline for me to commit to the Ignite program?<\/button>\r\n    <\/h3>\r\n    <div id=\"unique-id-1__content\" class=\"wsu-accordion__content\" aria-labelledby=\"unique-id-1__88594\">\r\n        <div class=\"wsu-accordion__content-inner\">\r\n            \n\n<p>The closing application deadline for this program is July 31, 2026.
