Welcome to the CAHNRS Ignite Program!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Are you ready to jumpstart your college journey with purpose and passion? The College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) Ignite Program<\/strong> is your gateway to an exciting, hands-on experience designed just for first-year students pursuing a CAHNRS major, designated as WSU and CAHNRS Top Scholars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through immersive undergraduate research, you\u2019ll explore your academic interests in depth while working side-by-side with outstanding faculty\u2014many of whom are leaders in their fields. Along the way, you\u2019ll gain valuable skills in research methods, grow professionally, and connect with a vibrant community through engaging academic and social activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you’re registered, Judy Hopkins<\/strong>, your dedicated internship and career development coordinator, will share a calendar packed with both required events and optional opportunities to enrich your experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the highlights? The Tops Scholars Science & Research Fair<\/strong>\u2014your chance to meet faculty mentors and discover research projects that align with your goals for the 2025\u20132026 academic year. After the fair, it\u2019s up to you<\/strong> to take the next step: reach out to faculty, express your interest, and explore potential research collaborations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Real Research. Real Impact.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Faculty mentors will post research opportunities in Handshake<\/strong>, tailored to your area of study. Be sure to apply early\u2014these roles are competitive! If selected, you\u2019ll earn up to $1,500<\/strong> for your work, averaging about 10 hours per week<\/strong>, depending on your project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You won\u2019t be alone on this journey. You\u2019ll be supported by experienced Peer Mentors<\/strong>, as well as a team of Professional Mentors, <\/strong>who are dedicated faculty and staff, here to help you thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
