Hansen, Florence Memorial Scholarship

Florence “Flo” Hansen was born Jan. 19, 1909, at Colfax to Ed and Augusta Krueger.  She graduated from Colfax High School and attended Western Washington University at Bellingham, Washington, for a year.  She worked as a secretary for the law firm of Clegg and LaFollette at Colfax for a number of years.  She also was a deputy clerk in the Whitman County Courthouse at Colfax from 1931 to 1939.  She married Sigfred T. Hansen in 1934.  They farmed at Palouse from 1939 until they moved to Asotin County in 1948.  They lived in the Peola Road area west of Clarkston Heights.  He died in 1955.  She continued to live on the farm.  She was a member of the Washington State Cattlemen’s Association and the Washington State Wheat Growers Association.  She also was active in the Clarkston United Methodist Church women’s organization.  She died in 1986 at the age of 77.
