Manus, Louis J. and Francis Scholarship

Louis Manus received his Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture in Dairy Manufacturing in 1932 from Washington State College.  Following graduation he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve.  In 1934, Manus received his Master’s degree from West Virginia University in Dairy Science and returned to complete his Ph.D. at Washington State College in 1947 in Dairy Technology.  Louis Manus’ honors include the R. M. Wade Foundation Award “Recognition of Excellence in Instruction from the College of Agriculture, WSU 1972-1973”.  The first floor of the Gannon Residence Hall was named Manus House in 1987.  While in the military, Louis J. Manus served four and a half years in World War II and collectively a total of 28 years in the active and reserve services.  Manus retired as a Lt. Colonel from the US Army Reserve.  In 1973, after serving 27 years, he retired from Washington State University as an Associate Professor in the department of Food Science and Technology.

Award Requirements

The income from the endowment fund is for “Books and Fees” scholarships for freshmen and/or sophomores with a GPA of 2.5 to 3.2 and/or financial need.
