Kreitz, William E. and Dorna I. Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is established as a tribute to lives of WSU alumni, William E. “Bill” Kreitz, Jr. and his wife Dorna Ingwalson Kreitz, by their children Kenneth W. Kreitz and Lynda K. Bailey, and in remembrance of Kevin E. Kreitz. Bill received his B.S. from WSU’s College of Business and Economics in 1955, proudly interrupting his studies to serve his country in the Korean War before finishing his degree. He was an active member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and in 2003 was admitted to membership in the “Golden Legion” for over 50 years of loyal membership. He spent five years with Boeing; three years with a California defense firm, then in 1962 went to Virginia to work at the Atlantic Research Corporation (ARC). He held senior management positions for 29 years, retiring as ARC’s Vice President for Business Management in 1991. Dorna studied child development and was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. During her senior year she served as President of the Phi Lama Theta honor society, as SR. Greek Woman, and was also chosen as outstanding senior. Dorna was a pre-school teacher for several years and director for Spring Mar Co-op Preschool. She served her community in diverse leadership roles, which encompassed a mix of political, social, and environmental concerns. Despite 3,000 miles of separation from WSU, Bill and Dorna remained in contact with many of their fellow alumni and in touch with the campus activities. Together they raised three children, and created a home which was centered around love, mutual respect, and caring for others. Their legacy is one where integrity, commitment, and purpose are the enduring forces in any worthwhile effort.  It is these principles that guide this gift.
