In 1992 a campaign to create a fellowship honoring James C. Nelson was started. Nelson was a long-time educator and author in the field of transportation economics and regulations. James Christian Nelson, son to James C. Nelson, and his wife, Carole Nelson, were instrumental in establishing this Fellowship in honor of his father.
The income of this endowment will be used to attract exceptional graduate students with a demonstrated interest in microeconomics. Nelson Fellows will be expected to actively conduct research on transportation economics issues.
