Marvel J. Reinbold was born July 1904 in Inavale, Nebraska. She was the oldest of 3 children. Her parents farmed in Nebraska and then homestead land in Wyoming. Marvel came to Spokane in the 1930’s. She and Simon were married in 1953. She has 2 children by a previous marriage, and she and Simon have 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Marvel has been a member of Country Homes, Lincoln County Extension Homemakers Club, since 1953. She was also a member of the Washington Fire Commissioners Auxiliary from 1953 to 1977, serving as their president in 1973. One of her favorite hobbies has been gardening and her love of flowers is evident in her yard. She has also enjoyed sewing as a hobby. Both Simon and Marvel have been avid world travelers.
First preference shall be given to students from Lincoln County, Washington. All recipients must major in agronomy and soils or human nutrition and dietetics. The scholarships may be used to recruit high school students to attend Washington State University and will be awarded on the basis of a combination of academic excellence and financial need. If the student maintains at least a 3.0 grade point average at WSU the award may be automatically renewable. The minimum awards will be $1,000 but may be increased by the College of Agriculture and Home Economics Scholarship Committee.
