How To Update Giving Links On Your Website

The location of giving links on WSU websites varies widely. This guide provides step-by-step instructions with screenshots for the most common locations.

If your website is set up differently than the examples shown, please contact our team using the email or phone number provided, and we’ll be happy to help.

If your links are within a content area, you’ll need to look at the Edit Links in the Content Area on a Webpage section to identify the pagebuilder version that is similar to the one on your site.

Have a Different Website Setup?

If you can’t find instructions to match your website’s setup for giving links, please send an email to cahnrs.web.support@wsu.edu mentioning giving links and include the URL to the webpage.

Please contact us if you have links like these.

These are hard coded or need to be rebuilt if you want to change one of the links.

County Extension Sites

Some county sites have a donate link in their top banner area on the right side link the links below.

You’ll find these links in Widgets under Appearance

  1. Click on Appearance in the left menu column on WordPress
  2. Click on Widgets under Appearance in the left menu column on WordPress
  3. Clink on the Action Buttons widget in the Site Actions section on the Widget webpage.
    Paste in the new link.
    Be sure to include the whole link including http…
  4. Click Save
  5. Check the link on the live site.
    You may need to clear your cache.

Offsite Menu Location

Some sites will use the “offsite menu” at the bottom of the left menu area for the giving link

You’ll find the offsite menu in Menu under Appearance

  1. Click on Appearance in the left menu column on WordPress.
  2. Click on Menu under Appearance in the left menu column on WordPress.
  3. Select the offsite menu from the dropdown menu list and click Select

  4. You’ll be updating a custom link.
    Click on the dropdown arrow for the custom link to access the link information.
  5. Paste in the new link.
    Be sure to include the whole link including http…
  6. Click Save Menu
  7. Check the link on the live site.
    You may need to clear your cache.

Some sites have webpages with links to all their funds and fellowships

For Older Version of Pagebuilder

You’ll see this layout options at the bottom of the webpage that has this older version of pagebuilder.

  1. Click on the link within the content text edit area
    This will activate the link editor
  2. Click on the pencil to edit the link
  3. Paste in the new link.
    Be sure to include the whole link including http
  4. Click Update for the link
  5. Preview Changes to check your changes before clicking Update
  6. Click Update for the webpage to publish the webpage
  7. Check and test the link on the live site.
    You may need to clear your cache.

Pagebuilder with Blue Content Areas

For Pagebuilders with the blue content blocks

  1. Click on the blue content area where the link are located.
  2. Click on the link within the content text area
    This will activate the link editor
  3. Click on the pencil to edit the link
  4. Paste in the new link.
    Be sure to include the whole link including http
  5. Click Update for Insert/Edit link
  6. Preview Changes to check your changes before clicking Update
  7. Click Update for the webpage
  8. Check the link on the live site.
    You may need to clear your cache.

Textblock Version of Pagebuilder

  1. Click on the content area
  2. Click on the link within the content text area
    This will activate the link editor
  3. Click on the edit pencil
  4. Paste in the new link.
    Be sure to include the whole link including http
  5. Click Update for Insert/Edit link
  6. Preview Changes to check your changes before clicking Update
  7. Click Update for the webpage.

Check the link on the live site.

An image link may look like this.

You may need to follow several step from the Edit links within the content area of a webpage sections to get to the point where you can edit the content text area.

  1. Edit text
  2. Click on the image to activate the edit link tool bar.
    You may need to do a slight click and drag on the image to activate the edit link tool bar.
  3. Click on the pencil to edit the link.
  4. Add the new link into the Link to text field
  5. Click Update for Image Details
  6. Preview Changes to check your changes before clicking Update
  7. Click Update for the webpage.
  8. Check the link on the live site.
    You may need to clear your cache.
