Winemakers Base Camp, Mazama, WA

January 7, 2014 - January 9, 2014

For more information, click here

What is it? Once a year, for three days and two nights, a group of winemakers gather in a remote location to troubleshoot problem wines brought and shared from their own cellars. This is a unique event where we get to network and share our expertise with peers in an atmosphere of confidentiality and scholarly support. The idea is that we all make mistakes, but these can be some of our best learning experiences. TO BE CLEAR, this is a meeting where we share our LEAST successful wines that are causing us problems from the most recent vintage. Beyond that, Base Camp is intended to be a retreat where we can relax, meet new colleagues, solve problems for ourselves and others, add tools to our tool belt, and forge new friendships.

Who attends? Members of the Washington Wine Technical Group and invited guest winemakers from outside of Washington. Each winery may send a maximum of two people. A maximum of two academic members may attend. This retreat was created by winemakers and is for: winemakers, enologists, assistant winemakers, wine researchers and wine technicians.
