{"id":1268,"date":"2023-03-29T11:51:33","date_gmt":"2023-03-29T18:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cahnrs.wsu.edu\/research\/?page_id=1268"},"modified":"2023-09-15T08:43:47","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T15:43:47","slug":"grants-faqs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cahnrs.wsu.edu\/research\/grants-faqs\/","title":{"rendered":"The Proposal Timeline"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2>Prior to an Agency Deadline, faculty should work with their grant administrators to meet the following internal deadlines to ensure timely proposal submission. <\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-carousel\" data-desktop-columns=\"2\">\r\n    <button class=\"wsu-carousel__button-prev\" aria-label=\"Previous slide\"><\/button>\r\n        <div class=\"wsu-carousel__wrapper swiper-wrapper\">\r\n            \n<article class=\"wsu-card\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wsu-card__content\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"wsu-title \">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t30 DAYS PRIOR\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wsu-caption\">\r\n\t\t\tAs soon as you conceive of submitting a proposal, submit a proposal intake form and provide pertinent information such as the Request for Proposal (or Notice of Funding Opportuning), deadline, and subawards. Please provide <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">at minimum<\/span> a 30 days notice or more if possible. There are exceptions to that timeframe, and we will work with you. \t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/article>\n\n<article class=\"wsu-card\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wsu-card__content\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"wsu-title \">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2 WEEKS PRIOR\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wsu-caption\">\r\n\t\t\tThe budget and the budget justification will be a work in progress and should be started as soon as possible. The final budget and budget justification should be sent to your grant administrator <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">two weeks<\/span> prior to the deadline. This is especially important if there is cost sharing\/matching, and collaboration with other departments or subcontractors. \t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/article>\n\n<article class=\"wsu-card\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wsu-card__content\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"wsu-title \">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t5 DAYS PRIOR\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wsu-caption\">\r\n\t\t\tAll proposal components should be submitted to your grant administrator <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">5 days<\/span> prior to the deadline. This will give them time to put the complete package together, make sure it adheres to the RFP (or NOFO) guidelines, identify any incorrect or missing documents, and draft the eREX.  If you need additional time to work on your narrative, please make arrangements with your grant administrator. \t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/article>\n\n<article class=\"wsu-card\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wsu-card__content\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"wsu-title \">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t3 DAYS PRIOR\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wsu-caption\">\r\n\t\t\tThe eREX should be submitted to CAHNRS Grants. \t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/article>\n\n<article class=\"wsu-card\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wsu-card__content\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"wsu-title \">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t2 DAYS PRIOR\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wsu-caption\">\r\n\t\t\tThe eREX should be submitted to ORSO <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">2 days<\/span> prior to the deadline to give them time for final review and submission. They review proposals for the entire university and experience heavy volume during agency-specific deadlines. \t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/article>\n        <\/div>\r\n    <button class=\"wsu-carousel__button-next\" aria-label=\"Next slide\"><\/button>\r\n    <div class=\"wsu-carousel__pagination\"><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2>Grant FAQs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-max-width--hero\">For detailed information on proposal submission guidelines, please review ORSO <a href=\"https:\/\/orso.wsu.edu\/documents\/2018\/02\/guideline-1.pdf\/\">Guideline 1 Proposal Review, Processing, and Submission<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>When does a pre-proposal need to be submitted through an eREX?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-max-width--hero\">A pre-proposal that requires an Authorized Official (AOR) signature or a detailed budget that needs to be certified are the only two reasons a pre-proposal will need an eREX and processing through ORSO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>The funding opportunity requires applicants to have a 501(c); can I still submit a proposal?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, however, the proposal will need to be submitted through the WSU Foundation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>What is a limited submission?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-max-width--hero\">A limited submission opportunity is when the funder restricts the number of proposal submissions per institution. ORSO has a vetting process to determine which application(s) will be approved for submission to the sponsor.\u00a0<strong>You must fill out a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/orap.wsu.edu\/cover-letter\">Cover Letter<\/a>\u00a0to apply for a limited submission opportunity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>What is a narrative hold?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-max-width--hero\">The Narrative Hold Program allows faculty the opportunity to finalize and polish the research\/technical narrative sections associated with proposals currently being submitted via these online portals; (NIH) ASSIST, (NSF) Research.gov, (NASA) NSPIRES and the new online Workspace portal in Grants.gov. <em>All documents, except the narrative, must be finalized 2 days prior to the agency deadline. <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prior to an Agency Deadline, faculty should work with their grant administrators to meet the following internal deadlines to ensure timely proposal submission.
