Reynolds-Biersner Scholarship

Though not a college graduate, Anne Reynolds knew the importance of education. She was widowed when her daughter, Jane, was only six, but helped make her degree from Whitman College possible. It was at Whitman that Jane met Don Biersner, a Walla Walla native. After earning his degree at Whitman, Don went to work for Boeing throughout his career. Don and Jane have three children and after they were grown, Jane went to work for Boeing for 11 years before starting her own small business. Three of the areas of WSU to benefit from this gift were initially based upon the area of study of the Biersner children and supplements to include athletics since it is an area of the University Don and Jane have supported and enjoyed for years. Their son John is a 1982 Crop and Soil Sciences alumnus. David earned his degree in Geology in 1983. Daughter Mary received her undergraduate degree at Linfield College before earning her master’s degree at WSU in Food Sciences and Human Nutrition in 1997. Don and Jane’s support of athletics at WSU determined the fourth area. They have fond feelings for WSU, and especially appreciate the quality undergraduate experience WSU provides.
