From 1919 to 1954, E.H. Steffen fathered the department of Forestry and Range management at Washington State University. Helping others was a notable deed of “Steff” in the days of the “depression dollars” when he became benefactor to many students by co-signing notes at local banks. The scholarship, named in his honor, is the project through which his outstanding qualities of helping others obtain a productive education in Forestry and Range Management lives on.
