Loomis, Catherine Melissa Scholarship

Charles and Betty Loomis enjoyed a long and generous friendship with Washington State University. Chuck, as he was called by friends and family, was a member of the Class of 1943. He graduated from WSU with a degree in business administration and went to work for the family business, the Loomis Corporation. In 1960, he became president of the corporation and eleven years later, chairman. This company was founded in 1925 and was the parent company to Loomis Armored Car Service. Chuck passed away in March 1998. Longtime members of the Alumni Association and part of the Martin Stadium Builders, the Loomises have established two scholarships at WSU. The second of which is this Catherine Melissa Loomis Presidential Scholarship, honoring their late daughter, a 1969 WSU graduate in home economics who died in 1976. The Loomises have also supported the work of innovative and caring members of the Colleges of Sciences and Liberal Arts faculty. Chuck and Betty were early advocates of the WSU Foundation and were among a group of volunteers who helped the fledging organization get its start in the late 1970s.  They are survived by their daughter Ann.
