Debra Barnett

Biography

Debra Barnett has been Administrative Manager of the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences in Vancouver since 1997. In 2024, the role of Administrative Manager to the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resources Sciences was added to her position. Among her many and varied duties are handling all aspects of hiring and personnel; providing faculty support, staff training and staff supervision; managing field placement data reporting and mentor teacher stipend payments; overseeing travel and purchasing procedures; and assisting two academic directors with budget forecasts, annual requests, cut planning, and tracking expenditure data. Debra and Administrative Assistant, Erin Voeltz, perform all tasks required of running the office of two academic units.

In 2005, Debra earned a Professional Writing Certificate at WSU Vancouver. While working full time, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology in 2008 and received the Outstanding Anthropology Student award.

Debra’s personal life centers around her husband, Steve, their three children, thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grands. She loves music and has been a lifelong Beatles fan (aka Beatlemaniac), seeing them live in concert when she was 13. Her other passion is to visit ancient archaeological sites, such as Stonehenge and the Pyramids of Giza.
