Biography
Shaun is originally from the United Kingdom, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from the University of Brighton, a master’s degree in Plant Genetics and Crop Improvement from the University of East Anglia and a PhD in Molecular Plant Science from Washington State University in 2022. Shaun previously completed a postdoc at the USDA-ARS National Clonal Germplasm Repository in Oregon working on multiples crops such as hops, raspberries and blueberries developing his bioinformatic skills in heterozygous, polyploid crops, before rejoining the Bob Brueggeman’s barley lab in June 2023. The aim of the lab is to produce superior barley cultivars for feed, food, forage and most importantly malt market classes.
