La Bienvenida has been a part of Washington State University for the past 16 years and is one of only two programs of its kind in the state of Washington. The program’s goal is to support the transition, retention, and graduation of our Latino students in higher education by including their parents/guardians in the orientation process and ensuring that they have the resources and understanding necessary to support their students.

To accomplish this, each year we bring together a spectacular group of Spanish-speaking colleagues who give our attending families a great welcome in La Bienvenida’s orientation program that is delivered entirely in Spanish. In providing a comfortable linguistic setting for our students and parents, we have ensured that these families feel comfortable in asking questions and understanding the support that Washington State University has to offer.

It would be an honor to host you this year as we believe it would be a great benefit to show you the impact that we are able to have on our attending students and families. This invitation is for our dinner event that is set to take place on Saturday, May 20th from 6:30-9:30 p.m. During this event, all our communications will be translated and will include speakers and performances to celebrate our families and their students’ start at Washington State University. We will have a buffet dinner, live music, traditional Mexican dancers, and other entertainment.

We also believe it would be a benefit to host you during other parts of our event as well should this fit with your schedule; this would help us to show the difference our program makes for our attending parents and their soon-to-be-students. A translator can be provided if needed and we would be happy to provide an agenda of this program upon request.
