Making a difference

Thank you to all who supported CAHNRS during CougsGive, and to the CAHNRS development team for their work on the event. We clearly have many supporters.

Two weeks ago, four of WSU Extension’s finest attended the Public Issues Leadership Development conference in Washington, D.C. Elsa Haun, Sarah Stewart, Kevin Zobrist, and Nick Pappin, accompanied by our WSU D.C. lobbyist, Bethany Johns, visited the offices of five Washington state congressional representatives. It’s important to continue sharing with our elected members the importance and impact of our work, in this case advancing forestry efforts and a rural broadband initiative.

Congratulations to Emily Libey! Emily, a graduating senior in the human development department, was recognized as a CAHNRS Outstanding Senior and WSU’s Student Employee of the Year! If you know Emily, you know she embodies the Coug spirit every day. She has made a big difference for CAHNRS by providing much of our college’s TikTok content. I am excited that Emily will carry the CAHNRS gonfalon at commencement on May 3. We are equally excited that Hannah McCready was selected as one of the 2025 Top 10 Seniors! Hannah, a double major in human development and psychology, is a CAHNRS Ambassador and an employee in the office of Student Success and Academic Programs. Congratulations, Hannah!

Congratulations, also, to each of the CAHNRS faculty and staff awardees! It was great to see everyone who participated in Pullman and by Zoom. The end of the semester is always busy; I appreciate everyone making time to cheer on their colleagues.

It looks like another great weekend is ahead. Get out and enjoy it before the rush of finals week takes over! Sunshine and longer days make a huge difference in forgetting, if just for a bit, all of the craziness and chaos.
