Getting ready for the next home game

We learned last week that a continuation agreement with the DNR has been finalized. The agreement provides WSU with funding to continue educational workshops for small forest landowners.

I hope everyone had a nice long weekend. I arrived back in town Sunday on a plane full of students. I suspect they came back on Sunday so that they had all day Monday to study. It will be another day or so before I am caught up on emails and tasks after spending a couple days kayaking. That same timeline is likely needed for an end to the itching from the no-see-um bites on my legs. Next time I will remember the repellent.

We learned last week that a continuation agreement with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has been finalized. The agreement provides WSU with funding to continue educational workshops for small forest landowners. New classes and workshops will address topics such as silviculture, wildlife, forest management plans, wildfire preparedness, invasive weeds, Native American uses of the land, and chainsaw safety. Congratulations to Andy Perleberg, Kevin Zobrist, Molly Darr, and the entire WSU forestry team for the work they will do in partnership with the DNR!

It is hard to believe that the CAHNRS Promotion and Tenure Advisory Committee is gearing up to meet next week. Faculty across the college are putting finishing touches on their promotion packets, and evaluation letters are coming into departments. This year marks the most packages that I will review during my time with CAHNRS. I look forward to learning about the accomplishments of two dozen of our faculty. While reading isn’t a hobby for me, perusing the reflective narratives and letters of evaluation from the external reviewers and the committee are a highlight each fall.

Let’s hope for a nice home win for football this weekend, despite temperatures that are more familiar to the opponents.
