CAHNRS Internship Program
CAHNRS Student Success and Academic Programs, Research, and Extension are offering a wide variety of faculty and staff led internships this summer! All CAHNRS students are eligible to apply. They will receive course credit and get paid for this hands-on learning experience!

AgAID Undergraduate Research Internships
Encourage students to apply to the AgAID Institute’s 8-week summer internships at WSU, OSU, innov8.ag, UVA, and UC Merced. They can earn a $5,500 stipend while gaining real-world experience learning about Artificial Intelligence technologies and their agricultural applications.

Program Benefits:
•Unique 8-week Research Experience
•$5,500 stipend, plus: if needed, travel and housing support are available
•Career development and mentoring, plus build their science communication skills
The application deadline is February 28th, 2024.

Student Awards 2025

Make sure to encourage students to apply for Student Awards, 2025. The deadline for submission of nomination packets is March 10th, 2025.

Students must work with their academic coordinators to complete the nomination process. Final packets are due to cahnrs.majors@wsu.edu

Regional Teaching Nominations
The time for nominations for the Regional Teaching Awards is here, and the deadline for submission is on February 28th. This will allow regional applicants time to receive feedback before applying for the national award. The hope is that the Western Region applicants will be highly competitive at the national level.
With a few changes made to the application process and timeline, we want to encourage folks to check in with the provided guidelines (pdf).
CAHNRS 3-Minute Thesis

Come support Graduate and PhD students while they present their research idea in a concise way for a non-specialist audience in the CAHNRS Three-Minute Thesis Event!
The 3MT event will be held on Wednesday March 5th, 2:00 – 4:00pm in Ensminger Pavilion.
Encourage students to apply by the deadline of February 25th, 2025.
We invite each department to nominate up to three of their top students (three PhD and three Master’s-level students) for consideration. We will accommodate as many students as possible, keeping in mind fair representation and limiting the competition to a reasonable amount of time.
Winners will receive monetary awards via a student scholarship as follows:
- First place: $1000 (awarded to one PhD student and one Master’s student)
- Second place: $500 (awarded to one PhD student and one Master’s student)
- People’s Choice Award: $500 (awarded to one PhD student and one Master’s student)

The Swantz Teaching and Learning Community
The WSU CAHNRS Swantz Teaching & Learning Community support peer mentoring, WSU’s core-to-career program, effective methods for engaging with employers, the importance of valuing teaching and learning in the promotion process, advancements in utilizing AI, strategies for balancing accommodation with merit-based access in the classroom, and much more. Participating in the Swantz Teaching and Learning Community means you can expect an enriching exploration of these themes and their implications for teaching and learning within the CAHNRS community. CAHNRS Faculty & Staff Awards
Nominations due March 18th
We encourage everyone to support their colleagues’ incredible hard work and outstanding contributions at this year’s Faculty and Staff Awards. The nomination process has already begun, and the deadline has been extended to Tuesday March 18th, 2025. Please visit the Faculty and Staff Awards page on the Academics website for any updates.
Your participation in recognizing the outstanding contributions of your peers is highly valued, and this is an excellent opportunity to acknowledge a well-deserving colleague.

Awards Ceremony – April 22nd
An afternoon of recognition for some of the Faculty and Staff who make CAHNRS great. Recipients of each of 14 incredible awards will be presented, along with
an additional recognition award, the CAHNRS For All Ribbon Award, which will be presented for the first time ever.
The event will be on April 22nd from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in Ensminger Pavilion. All CAHNRS employees and their guests who wish to attend are welcome, including but not limited to the recipients and their guests. Light refreshments will be served.
