CAHNRS Office of Research (COR) provides CAHNRS faculty and staff with resources and services to enhance competitiveness in receiving extramural funding. The COR team assists in navigating the proposal development, submission process, and award management. Our mission is to increase funding success to support research, education, and extension activities.

Research Services

Pre-Award Services and Research Development

Applying for external funding can be a challenging process, even for the most seasoned investigators. The Pre-Award Grant Administrators and Office of Large Grants can guide and support you in proposal preparation and submission. Our pre-award team will review the final proposals before submission to ORSO, and work with departments to correct and/or revise proposals to ensure error-free processing to the funding agency.

The Office of Large Grants provides services in proposal management and development to ease the workload of the application process, improve proposal competitiveness, increase institutional knowledge, and expand the impact of CAHNRS Research and Extension.

Post Award Services

Congratulations, you’ve received an award!

Our Post Award Grant Administrators work with Sponsored Programs Services (SPS) and ORSO to assist faculty in managing their awards. We are here to help you navigate WSU’s policies and procedures for financial activities funded by federal and non-federal agencies.

Innovation and Commercialization

Our office facilitates the commercialization of all new qualifying inventions arising from CAHNRS research activities. We work directly with faculty members and researchers to evaluate new invention disclosures for potentially protectable subject matter. We help researchers develop collaborations intended to bring new intellectual property to the marketplace as products and services. We assist in the preparation and filing of Plant Variety Protection (PVP) Certificates, Plant Patents, Utility Patents, Copyrights, and Trademarks. We also design and implement strategies and procedures to enforce WSU’s patents, trademarks, and Plant Variety Protection / Plant Breeders’ Rights.
